Does Jericho Rosales now prefer to date non-showbiz women after  his failed romance with different actresses?

“Well, I cannot say because this is the world I live in, this is my world and paano kung dito ko makilala ‘yong gusto kong babae di ba? So hindi na puwede kasi showbiz na siya? So there’s nothing wrong kung ma in love ka sa ka-trabaho mo,” replied Echo.

The reality is that show business is rife with rumors, temptations, and controveries that often cripple a relationship, especially if the couple involved are both celebrities. Romance becomes a never-ending chase of hits and misses.

Yet some couples do manage to capture the fascination of the public more than the others. Most of them started out as workmates who happen to find themselves together in a project and then happily discover that they’re meant for each other.

Relationships that endure are a rarity in showbiz, and so PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) roots for two of the most beloved showbiz pairings from past to present.

SUSAN & DA KING. According to those in the know, Fernando Poe Jr. was a persistent, devoted suitor. When he was courting actress Susan Roces, the action great was a frequent visitor on the movie set of the mestiza actress, even if that meant having to stay up very late, never mind if he too was tired, coming from his own shoots. “Patience, he has lots of,” a director friend once said about Ronnie (FPJ’s nickname). “Only a man who is truly in love can do what Ronnie does.”

They belonged to different film studios but that did not hinder love from finding its way.  The union of FPJ and Susan managed to weather showbiz storms, and even his political battles, until FPJ’s untimely demise in December 14, 2004.

 

JUDY ANN & RYAN. Sparks were absent at Judy Ann Santos and Ryan Agoncillo’s initial meetings, which took place inside a photo studio and then in a salon. Year 2004 though changed all of that when Ryan was paired alongside Juday (Judy Ann’s nickname) in ABS-CBN’s primetime fantasy series, Krystala.

The two managed at first to keep the public guessing on the real score of their relationship. But, as they say, actions speak louder than words. The couple’s sweet gestures in public gatherings were enough to confirm that they were indeed an item. After getting engaged last year on Juday’s birthday, the sweethearts plan to seal their union this coming May.
