Ang pagsasama ng dalawang  young actresses na kabilang sa  magkaribal na network, tulad nina Kapamilya Kathryn Bernardo at Kapuso Louise delos Reyes, ay most welcome bilang pagsasaalang-alang sa diwa ng pagkakaisa, lalo sa panahong ito ng Kapaskuhan.

Kapwa bida sa Parola episode ng Shake, Rattle & Roll 13 sina Louise at Kathryn.

Ayon sa direktor ng episode na si Jerrold Tarog, “It’s really Kathryn and Louise who carried the film. But it wouldn’t have worked without Dimples [Romana] and Julia [Clarete], plus some good performances by the supporting cast.”

Kabilang sa supporting cast ng Parola ang young actor na si Sam Concepcion, ang dalawang seasoned at premyadong aktres na sina Ara Mina at Ina Raymundo, at ang character actor na si Lloyd Samartino.

Sa panayam ng PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) kay Jerrold Tarog, through email, ay nagbahagi ang multi-awarded filmmaker ng mga mahahalagang impormasyon at detalye hinggil sa kanyang bagong obra na kabilang sa Shake, Rattle & Roll 13 trilogy.

Matatandaang noong isang taon ay naging markado ang Punerarya episode ni Tarog, na kabilang sa Shake, Rattle & Roll 12 ng Regal Entertainment.

Sa nasabing episode nagbida at nagpamalas ng angking kahusayan sa pagganap si Carla Abellana, who won acting nominations and awards para sa kanyang lead performance.

Mayroon bang newcomer, o bidang young actress sa Parola episode ng SR&R 13 who can be another Carla Abellana?

“Louise and Kathryn both have had a lot of experience in TV but they’ve only had a few films under their belt. I’m proud of their performances here.

“Kathryn’s eyes are just so wonderfully expressive while Louise acts with her entire being. Two different styles but they both carry the film really well.

“I’m very impressed with their talent and I hope to make more films with and for them.”

Kumusta ang naging pagtatrabaho nila ngayon sa Parola kumpara sa nauna niyang Punerarya.

“We do our best to keep a light atmosphere on the set,” sagot ni Jerrold.

“Everything’s about creative collaboration and finding solutions. Nobody raises their voice except for my AD, Cris Aquino.

“I also had fun just hanging out with some of the cast members. Si Louise and Dimples, particularly, ang kulit nung dalawa. Medyo shy pa si Kathryn.

“Si Julia, we got to hang out a little on the last day. Sound trip lang. Masaya naman.”

ALL ABOUT PAROLA. “It’s about two best friends [Kathryn and Louise] who get possessed by rival witches,” pagtukoy pa ni Jerrold Tarog sa kuwento ng episode na dinirek niya.

Kabilang din si Tarog sa story-and-screenplay credit ng episode, with Aloy Adlawan, Maribel Ilag, and Roselle Monteverde.

“At its core, Parola is about the bonds of love and hatred that hold people together.”

Ano ang nakakatakot sa Parola?

“Let the audience decide what’s mysterious or creepy about the episode.

“We just did our best to make the film work,” sabi rin ni Jerrold.

Ang dalawa pang episode ng Shake, Rattle & Roll 13 ay ang mga dinirek nina Richard Somes at Chris Martinez. Ano ang kaibahan ng Parola sa dalawa pang episodes?

“I’m not really familiar with the storylines of the other two episodes,” sagot niya.

“All I know is Chris is working with a lot of water, and Richard, with a lot of prosthetics.”

Ano naman ang kaibahan sa kuwento ng Parola sa Punerarya na obra rin niya noong nakaraang taon?

“Whereas Punerarya is about a woman trying to keep control of the situation, Parola is about two girls who quickly lose control over everything.

“In terms of scope, Parola was harder to shoot because we had to recreate the lighthouse and there were more stunts.

“In general, things were just a little bit more ‘epical’ so the episode had to feel big,” dagdag pa ni Direk Jerrold.

COMPETITION. Pangalawa ang Parola sa screening ng Shake Rattle & Roll. Una yung gawa ni Richard Somes na Tamawo, samantalang huli ang Rain Rain Go Away ni Chris Martinez.

Nakagawian na raw mula pa noon, na sa “Shake, Rattle & Roll” episodes,  umano’y inilalagay raw sa huli, o pangatlo ang “pinakamagandang episode” ayon sa pag-judge, o panlasa, ng producer na si Mother Lily Monteverde at kanyang anak na si Ms. Roselle Monteverde-Teo.

Ano ang komento ni Direk Jerrold dito?

“I think what they usually do is place the teen-oriented ones in the middle to keep the energy up.

“It’s not necessarily the last one that’s the best because that might imply that the first one is the worst. Unfair naman yata yun ‘di ba?

“I don’t feel anything about my episode being in the middle. Wala din namang competition sa mga directors.

“We’re all just trying to do our best with what we have. Having said that, I’m very excited to see Chris’s episode because I believe it’s his first horror film, and also Richard’s because he’s really great with atmosphere.”

May mga problema ba silang nakaharap sa paggawa ng kanyang episode?

“Apart from the usual budget constraints and a strict requirement to finish the shoot within a specific number of days, Louise delos Reyes’s accident on set was pretty much the highlight of the shoot’s difficulties,” related Jerrold.

“It was also pretty traumatic, not just for her, but for me, as well.

“Since she was really knocked unconscious and while we were rushing her to the hospital there were moments when I really thought she was in critical condition.

“Thank goodness it turned out to be just a minor concussion [dala na rin ng matingding kapaguran].”
